Our tight knit Tailings and Closure team is currently seeking anIntermediate Tailings Engineerto join the group in Brisbane to assist with current and exciting future project requirements and opportunities.

In this role, you will have opportunities to provide engineering investigation, design (civil, hydrology and geotechnical) and construction support services in the areas of mine tailings management and closure. Key Accountabilities of this role include:

• Developing tasks under the guidance of senior engineers and working towards technical independence.
• Meeting deliverables and delivering quality work.
• Developing an understanding of Hatch business practices with a focus on the Tailings Practice and mine waste management activities to support existing and new projects.
• Demonstrating technical curiosity and contribute specific geotechnical aspects to all levels of studies, but mostly from scoping to the basic engineering phases in a context of larger multi-disciplinary teams. The responsible tasks can include tailings storage facility design, supervising geotechnical investigations and geophysics programs and carrying out construction quality assurance and quality control.
• Working with multi-disciplinary teams to participate in developing integrated tailings, mine waste and mine water management solutions.
• Preparing technical documentation including reports, technical specifications and design basis memorandums as well as coordinating civil designers to help prepare engineering drawings.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Strong technical skills in civil/geotechnical engineering or tailings design and suitable qualification in civil or geotechnical engineering; ideally with previous experience in a mining consultancy or a mine operations role.
• Previous experience working on tailings or water projects would be advantageous.
